Program: Global Shofar Master Program Target Audience: 120 Shofar Blowers for Israel Events & International Leaders Goal: To train โ€œBaโ€™al Tekiahโ€ (Master of the Blast) level Shofar blowers.

This curriculum consists of 6 comprehensive modules, balancing theory, spirituality, and practical technique. Completing this course ensures mastery over the historical, theological, and technical aspects of the Shofar.

Knowledge

  • Understand the 3,000-year history and biblical context of the Shofar.
  • Identify different types of Shofars (Ram, Kudu) and their characteristics.
  • Master the sequence and meaning of Jewish High Holy Day rituals.

Skills

  • Perfectly execute the 4 traditional sounds: Tekiah, Shevarim, Teruah, Tekiah Gedolah.
  • Maintain stable breathing (diaphragmatic) and embouchure.
  • Lead and harmonize within a 120-member ensemble.

Attitude (Heart)

  • Recognize the spiritual weight and responsibility of being a โ€œWatchman.โ€
  • Approach the calling with humility and reverence (Kavanah).
  • Foster unity and cooperation within the team.

Intensive Course (2 Weeks)

  • Week 1: Modules 1-3 (Theory + Basic Skills)
  • Week 2: Modules 4-6 (Advanced Skills + Leadership)

Standard Course (8 Weeks)

  • Week 1-2: Modules 1-2
  • Week 3-4: Module 3
  • Week 5-6: Module 4
  • Week 7: Module 5
  • Week 8: Module 6 + Final Exam

๐Ÿ“ Evaluation Criteria

Practical Exam (70%)

  • Tekiah (15): Tone quality, stability, clear start/stop.
  • Shevarim (15): Evenness of the 3 broken notes.
  • Teruah (15): Clarity of the 9 staccato beats.
  • Tekiah Gedolah (15): Duration (min. 9 seconds) and power.
  • Ensemble (10): Synchronization and dynamics.

Theory Exam (30%)

  • Biblical Knowledge (10): Understanding key verses.
  • Tradition (10): Ritual procedures (Rosh Hashanah sequence).
  • Practicality (10): Maintenance and event preparation.
